At Mosaic Animal Emergency and Specialty Hospital, we’re committed to providing compassionate end-of-life care, and our partnership with Chamisa Aquamation Services helps us do just that. Their gentle, eco-friendly aquamation process offers a respectful alternative to traditional cremation. The team is professional, kind, and consistently supportive during the most difficult moments for pet families. We trust them fully and are grateful to offer their services to our clients. Their care reflects the same compassion we strive to provide every day.
"Daisy brought me joy through the darkest times—divorce, homelessness, and a major move. Losing her so suddenly was devastating, and I feared how she'd be treated in her final moments. As a former vet tech, I’ve seen it all, so I was anxious. But learning about aquamation through Mosaic and experiencing your compassionate care gave me unexpected comfort. Your kindness during such a heartbreaking time made a lasting impact. I’m deeply grateful."
Just over two years ago, we said goodbye to our beloved Labrador, Lou, after his battle with bone cancer. Throughout his diagnosis and end-of-life care, Dr. Amanda and the team at Chamisa Mobile Veterinary Service demonstrated exceptional kindness, compassion, and professionalism.
We chose aquamation over cremation for several important reasons. It is a gentler process on the body, environmentally friendly, and leaves no carbon footprint. Given Lou’s deep love of water, it felt only right to honor him through a process that reflected his spirit.
Dr. Amanda and her team consistently treated Lou with love, dignity, and the highest standard of care. We are deeply grateful for their support and for helping us give Lou the farewell he deserved
We offer all our clients a choice of two different pet memorial services. After we describe the differences between cremation and aquamation, virtually everyone chooses Chamisa. I suspect this is based on a combination of reasonable cost, environmental benefit, and the importance of supporting a small local business. One of our clients also saw a Chamisa staff member picking up pet remains from our practice and made a point of telling our front desk staff how gently and carefully the remains were handled - I have NEVER had that happen in 15+ years of working in veterinary medicine.
Few things are more sorrowful than letting your beloved pet go. Including giving their
remains over for the next step (usually burial or cremation). Three different times over
the years here in Santa Fe, one of my pack has made the transition to what lies beyond
that rainbow bridge. Discovering that Chamisa Veterinary offers a different choice with
the aquamation service, was a welcome alternative to the traditional cremation or burial
options. The sorrow of each loss remained, but the compassion and understanding of
everyone at Chamisa allowed me to feel secure that my beloved companion would be
treated with the care, dignity and respect they deserved. After each of those precious
lifetimes together, Tristan’s, Harper’s, and Audrey’s, each of whom brought love, joy,
and wonder, taking that next step felt gentle and peaceful. Each one of my beloved
companions is beside me on the bookshelf as this is written, each is still missed, but
aquamation at Chamisa helped me feel I’d done everything possible to honor each of
their lives and our bond -- through to the end and beyond.
